Welcome to "It's For the Birds" Blog Hop

Today is the final day of the "It's for the Birds" Blog Hop.  I am so glad you could hop by.  I am in good company....so be sure to hop over (or should I say fly over) and visit these other talented birdies.

Wednesday, May 15

www.sewmolliesue.com   <---- You are here!

Time is flying by this year.  I can't believe it is spring and the month of May.  The weather over the last couple of weeks...awesome!!  No wonder the birds are singing!

The days are longer...the sun is up earlier...and the birds remind us of the freshness of Spring.

My feathered friend is singing "Good Morning" to the Dresden Sun.

The flowers are joining her as she soaks up the sun....along with Ms. Ladybug.

I have wanted to do a table runner for our kitchen table and wanted something bright and cheery.  So I thought this might be the perfect time to go for it.

Bright and cheery!

Melodious tweets to Madame Samm, at Sew We Quilt, for creating a blog hop centered on our feathered friends and to Mary, at I Piece 2-Mary, for organizing the flock.

I Hope you stop by again soon.  Until then...

Shout Out!

Here, in North Carolina, we are having a rainy day.  It is cool but we have the windows open and are welcoming in the day.  I can hear the birds singing and the roosters crowing.  Our neighbors up the street have three chickens that roam the neighborhood.  Love it when they come to visit!

Things are gradually slowing down.  Work kept me very busy the first part of this year and things piled up.  I am just starting to get things checked off the list.  We spent a couple Saturdays in the yard trying to reclaim it from the weeds.  We had some great help from a wonderful young man.  Thank you, Adam!  The yard is looking great!

Housekeeping and laundry took some time to get back to normal...or close enough to normal for now.  Whew!

Google is taking down Reader and I need to find a new one so that I can keep up with all my favorite blogs.  I would love to hear what you are using.  Feedly seems to be the most popular one but I am not sold.  I really liked Reader and I am going to miss it.

And just today, I had a chance to get back in the Quilt Room.  I have missed it dearly.  I am close to having the blocks for the Studio Stitch BOM complete.  Here are my latest two!

Only one more month of blocks and those two quilts will be ready to piece the quilt tops.  For the batiks, I think I will put that one on point and the other I will just do strips.

I did sketch out my idea yesterday for the upcoming Blog Hop..."It's for the Birds"... I hope I can pull off.  Next step is to pull together the fabrics.  Wish me luck.  My day is currently scheduled for May 15th.

Our sweet nephew stopped by this afternoon on his way back to college.  I had the camera out taking pictures of my blocks.  He asked the sweetest questions about my blog so I told him I would give him a shout out...to Joey! Thank you for being a fab nephew!

Next weekend, I am hoping...crossing my fingers...that the Hubby and I can make a trip to the mountains.  We haven't been able to go since we closed on our land and I am anxious to see it again...I think he is too!  It would also be nice to get away for even just a bit from all the stresses of the last several months!

Hopefully, this week I can find more time for the Quilt Room.  I would like to get a good start on my Bird piece before the weekend...because I hopefully won't be at home then....

Until then...

Something to look forward to...

You may have noticed (how could you not) that I haven't blogged much lately. Things are crazy busy at work which doesn't leave too much time for fun.  (It isn't all bad, really) In fact...don't tell my boss...but I am writing this post from the office.  :-)

When things are this busy, I try to focus on the end point and find something to look forward to.  This year my plan may backfire because I am so excited about what comes next that I am having trouble concentrating.  :(

What things you ask...Well!

Hubby and I have discussed a trip to Florida to see someone very dear to us.  It is a window of opportunity that will close soon so we will likely make this happen.  We have had an offer to use a beach house which we used last year and really, really enjoyed ourselves.  We are hopeful that we can start work on our mountain cabin this spring and hopefully start spending more time in the mountains.  I will have three BOM blocks completed near the end of April and ready to set in quilt tops which is very exciting....

AND the cherry on top...I am participating in another blog hop!!

It's for the Birds Blog Hop courtesy of Madame Samm with Mary, from I Piece 2-Mary, as our cheerleader.  The details are here.

So only about another two and a half weeks TILL work slows down and THEN I hope I can...

Quick Post

Quick post...Things are very busy at work these days which leaves little time for the more enjoyable side of life...but I managed to squeeze out these two blocks for the Studio Stitch BOM.  I incorrectly cut the strips for the X on the left of the first block...it was supposed to be the coral colored fabric.  This was a make it work moment for sure.

The wind was blowing when Hubby and I attempted to take the pictures making it almost impossible to get a great photo.  I wanted to take the pictures in front of some of our daffodils but the wind was having none of that.

Good news...Hubby and I closed on some land in the mountains.  We are very excited(!) and hope to start work on a small cabin some day.  I will keep you updated...if our plans and ideas come to pass, I think that it is something worthy of sharing.

Hopefully, next Sunday, I can spend some more time in the Quilt Room but things at work may continue to interrupt that fun.  Oh well, the busy time should be over in a month or so and then there will be other things...like yard work, spring cleaning, etc. that will compete with Quilting...but hopefully to a lesser degree.

Till then...

Sunday, Sunday....

I am sad to say that I didn't spend much time in the Quilt Room this week.  Work is very busy this time of year and with Valentines Day falling on Thursday....Hubby's usual night out with the boys and my usual night in the Quilt Room...there wasn't much time.

We spent a lovely Valentine's evening together.  Every year, I find that I appreciate my Hubby more and more.  He is quite the catch.

I worked on Saturday and today we drove to the mountains to visit what will hopefully be our land in a couple weeks (crossing our fingers).

Hubby's sweet Sister rode with us and we really enjoyed our day visiting with her as well.  Oh my, though, it was cold (23 degrees) and very windy.  You could hear the creaking of the trees as they swayed back and forth.  There was still a bit of snow laying about from Friday and Saturday.  And if you have followed my blog at all...you know I love SNOW!  Take a peek....

We are very excited about all the possibilities that this new beginning can bring.  I am looking forward to being able to sew while taking in these lovely views as well as having family and friends join us for a weekend or more.

After the closing, we will be spending quite a few weekends (or lots more) working towards those ends...which may mean less time in the Quilt Room but I believe that it will be worth it.  Although, I will need to have some quilts ready for the cabin we envision there.

Until then...

Blocks Finished

It has been a while!  I have been so busy at work over the last couple weeks that it hasn't left much time for anything else...sadly.  Although, last Sunday night (while Hubby was watching the Super Bowl), I finished up the last blocks in my Craftsy BOM!  All of my blocks are done!!!!

I finished the last one so late on Sunday that I didn't have time to take pictures.

I quickly took pictures of all the blocks one evening...then another to crop etc into this collage...but not a moment to write a post...till now.  I am so excited to finish them....

The pictures aren't great...or perhaps it is my picture editing skills....either way, I am hoping to use the collage idea (PicMonkey) to determine the block lay out for the quilt.  I played with moving the blocks around until I felt comfortable with the layout. I would love your thoughts on it!

I still don't know if this is the final one.  I was hoping to buy some fabric for the sashing but I didn't get a chance.  Ugh...so I guess that will have to wait for a bit.  Perhaps this week!

Today, I finished my two blocks for the Studio Stitch BOM (I blogged about it here) so I am ready for our next meeting.  All things considered...a wonderful accomplishment.

There are three more months to go and all of the blocks will be finished.  And I know I said I wouldn't sign on for another BOM...well, I did.  I couldn't resist.  The new round starts in June.

It is unlikely that I will be much time in the Quilt Room this coming week.  As things heat up at work, I will likely have less and less time.

There are a couple exciting adventures coming up for the Hubby and me that I will share...we are very excited!

When work slows back down again...I intend to get moving on that list from January.  Trouble is...since January....I have thought of a ton of other things that I would like to try...some of which are listed here.  I guess I am doomed to have UFOs!  :)

Looking forward to new adventures and more time in the Quilt Room!

Till then...
